Frequent towers know that when it comes to towing, you want to make sure you get the right vehicle for the job. Towing is less about the power of the engine and more about the power to stop the object you’re towing once you get it going. Sure, a Civic and an Accord could probably tow a small trailer, however, it does not mean they have the power to control it once the trailer and vehicle gets up to speed. That’s precisely why you don’t see sedans towing. In some cases, enormous trailers come with their own brakes to help stop them even while being towed with the proper vehicle. Therefore, you need to know how much weight your vehicle can tow so you can be safe while towing.

Luckily, Honda offers four vehicles for towing purposes. The CR-V can tow around 1,500 pounds, which is enough for small trailers and campers. However, the HR-V, though similar to the CR-V, is not recommended for towing. This is because the HR-V was designed with versatility in mind, allowing you to carry cargo rather than hauling it. Visit our Service and Parts Centre for accessories like roof racks and bike racks to expand your cargo capacity.

The next tier up is the Passport and Pilot. Both vehicles can tow between 3,500 pounds up to 5,000 pounds, a medium sized trailer, a horse trailer, or a medium camper. Though, it should be noted that not all trims of either Pilot or Passport can tow up to 5,000 pounds.  Make sure you buy the proper trim level for your towing purposes.

The final towing vehicle is the Ridgeline, Honda’s pickup truck. This truck can tow between 3,500 to 5,000 pounds however, it offers the unique ability to use gooseneck trailers as well as hitched trailers. The Ridgeline is a tough vehicle able to balance lots of cargo space and versatile towing capacity.
