2015 Honda Accord : still the top dog

Published on May 25 2015

When it first came to market in 2013, the current generation of the Honda Accord quickly made a name for itself by offering a ton of comfort, great features, powerful engines that were also fuel-efficient, and a stylish design that made the car look good from every angle. All of that helped Honda’s midsize sedan become the Canadian Car of the Year in 2013. Today, the 2015 Accord hasn’t changed much, but that doesn’t mean that buyers should be worried.

As a matter of fact, the new Accord is still one of the most popular vehicles in its class, and now offers even better fuel efficiency for those who do not want to compromise when it comes to fuel economy. Indeed, the Honda Accord Hybrid, starting at less than 30 000 $, offers quite a bit of technology in such an affordable package. With an average fuel consumption rating of less than 4.0 liters per 100 kilometers, it’s hard not to like the hybrid version of the Accord family.

That said, if you prefer a traditional engine the hood of your vehicle, the Accord certainly has you covered. Starting at $ 24,050, the 2015 Honda Accord is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. In the Sport model, the engine’s output jumps to 189 hp. If that is not enough, you can also opt for the 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 278 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. While a six-speed manual is standard and a CVT automatic transmission is optional with the four-cylinder engine, the V6 can only get a six-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of fuel economy, both the V6 and the four-cylinder engine prove reasonable. The V6 averages 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway while the 2.4-liter engine averages 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

When you get behind the wheel, one of the things you notice about the 2015 Accord is how balanced it is. We are talking about a car here that is both comfortable and powerful. When you need to pass or accelerate off the line, the four-cylinder delivers its power in a smooth manner that leaves the driver feeling confident and safe. With the V6, power is even more abundant, but it is also controllable and linear.

With its proven reliability, great safety, plentiful features and fuel-efficient yet powerful engines, the 2015 Honda Accord offers a little bit of everything for everyone.
