2017 Honda CR-V: the balanced compact SUV

Published on February 27 2017

The compact SUV segment is growing, and is currently the most popular segment with the largest number of sales in the automotive industry. Several high-quality models are found in the compact SUV segment, but the most balanced is probably the 2017 Honda CR-V. Fully redesigned this year, the new 2017 CR-V offers a combination of power, fuel economy, Interior space, connectivity and safety.

A turbo engine for the new 2017 Honda CR-V

There have been several changes made to the fifth-generation 2017 Honda CR-V, but one of the most notable improvements is found under the hood as the new 2017 Honda CR-V is now (and for the first time) powered by a turbocharged engine. The 2017 Honda CR-V's 1.5-liter four-cylinder develops 190 horsepower, five more than the previous CR-V, and 179 pound-feet of torque.

But above all, this engine is more fuel-efficient than the old 2.4-liter engine that propelled the fourth-generation CR-V. Front-wheel drive models have an average fuel consumption rating of 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers combined, while all-wheel-drive CR-V models show an average fuel consumption rating of 8.7 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway, making it one of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs in its class.

Available starting at $ 26,690, the 2017 Honda CR-V comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission that transmits engine power to the front wheels. AWD is available starting at $ 29,490.

The 2017 CR-V also comes standard with heated seats, remote starter, rearview camera, keyless entry with push-button start and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions.

Increased safety for the 2017 Honda CR-V

The 2017 Honda CR-V offers the Honda Sensing suite of active safety technologies starting from the LX model ($ 29,490). Honda Sensing includes automatic brake with forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure prevention and warning systems, just to name a few. The 2017 Honda CR-V is one of the safest SUVs on the market and is not only able to warn you of a potential danger but also to avoid it if the driver does not react.

In terms of cargo space, the 2017 CR-V features a 1,110-liter trunk with all seats in place, and 2,146 liters when the rear seat is lowered.
