2018 Honda Accord: improvements at all levels

Published on June 28 2017

The 2018 Honda Accord has been officially announced recently and is expected to arrive later this year. The new Accord will be the 10th generation of the popular Honda midsize sedan and will replace the current generation which remains the best-selling model is its segment since the beginning of 2017.

It is very rare that a model manages to still top its segment in sales the year it is replaced by a new generation, but this just goes to show the quality of Honda’s vehicle lineup and the Honda Accord in particular.

Three new engines for the 2018 Honda Accord

Several changes are to be expected in the new 2018 Honda Accord starting with the engines that are under the hood. Indeed, the Accord will now offer two turbo engines that will replace the four-cylinder as well as the V6 found in the current lineup

The entry-level engine will be a four-cylinder turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that can be paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. Honda hasn’t confirmed how much power this engine will produce, but it is expected to be similar to the engine we find in the new Honda CR-V which develops 190 horsepower.

The other engine available in the 2018 Accord lineup will be another four-cylinder turbo unit, a 2.0-liter this time which will replace the V6 engine. The new turbo engine of the 10th generation Honda Accord will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, an exclusive innovation for the mid-size sedan segment. This direct injection engine promises to be one of the most powerful in its segment while being very impressive in terms of fuel economy.

The Honda Accord Hybrid will also be back and will also receive several improvements starting with an even more efficient two-engine hybrid system.

A new sporty design for the 2018 Honda Accord

The 2018 Honda Accord will offer an even more aggressive and refined style according to Honda. We haven’t seen it yet, but Honda will surely offer more details about the new Accord in the coming months. According to Honda, the new Accord will offer the latest in connectivity and safety technologies, as well as provide more space inside.

With its fuel-efficient new engines, exclusive 10-speed gearbox, new styling and new technologies, the 2018 Honda Accord promises to be even better than the model it will replace. The new 2018 Honda Accord is virtually guaranteed success, especially given that the 2017 model remains at the top of the list in terms of sales in its segment.
