2018 Honda Accord is the Canadian car of the year

Published on February 27 2018

We have been talking a lot about the Honda Accord for the last few months, but with good reason. Indeed, Honda's mid-size sedan, which was completely redesigned a few months ago, continues to make headlines by winning prizes.

After being named Best Car in its category by AJAC last month and crowned North American Car of the Year at the last International Auto Show in Detroit in January, the Accord won the coveted Canadian Car of the Year award handed out by the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada a few weeks ago in Toronto.

This is the most prestigious title given by the AJAC and it certainly reflects the quality of the new Accord and its overall ability to meet the needs of most buyers.

A prestigious title for the 2018 Honda Accord

The 2018 Honda Accord was crowned 2017 Canadian Car of the Year after a series of tests by AJAC member automotive journalists at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario. After two days of intensive testing where the Accord was compared to its rivals in back-to-back testing under identical conditions, it was the Honda midsize sedan that received the most points.

The car was rated on a range of criteria from comfort to interior space to driving pleasure, fuel efficiency, ride comfort and ease of use of the infotainment system.

"We accept with honor and humility this recognition from a respected group of Canadian automotive journalists," said Jean-Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada. "We are both proud and grateful to our partners in the development and production of this vehicle, as well as to our passionate customers who have renewed their support of the Accord over the past 40 years."

Starting at $ 26,490, the 2017 Honda Accord is fully redesigned this year. It offers two turbocharged engines, the first of which develops 192 horsepower in the entry-level version. The other more powerful engine, a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower, is optional.

Thanks to its new turbo engines, the 2018 Honda Accord is even more fuel-efficient than the generation it replaces with an average fuel consumption rating of only 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, and 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.
