2018 Honda Pilot: Capable and Modern

There’s no denying the Honda Pilot has always been a capable and functional vehicle in the Honda lineup. With plenty of interior space, a great drive, comfortable interior with lots of amenities, and the ability to go almost anywhere, the Honda Pilot has always checked all the right boxes. Well, the new 2018 Honda Pilot is no different.

Over the years, the Pilot has definitely grown up in all the right ways, and its latest exterior design (first scene in 2016) is most definitely its best look yet. Modern, sleek lines with rounded, soft touches give the Honda Pilot a very appealing silhouette that’s not just a rugged SUV box but a sophisticated, practical family ride. The Pilot wears Honda’s signature flying wing grille in shiny chrome with pride, wedged between uber modern headlights.

Step inside the 2018 Honda Pilot and you’ll discover three rows and the capability to seat ither seven or eight depending on how you configure your second row (bench vs. captain’s chairs), as well as standard features such as Bluetooth, touchscreen audio, cruise control, air-conditioning, a 5.0” colour display will keep all on board happy. Of course, there are optional features such as satellite radio, leather trim, DVD entertainment, heated and ventilated front seats also available.

If you go for the Honda Pilot Touring model, you’re SUV will be outfitted with an 8.0” touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as an available 10-speaker audio system, and a power tailgate activated via your key remote.

Remaining in the 2018 Honda Pilot is the previous generation’s 3.5L V6 that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The Honda Pilot can tow up to 5,000lbs, and from a standstill, will hit the 100km/hr mark in roughly 7 seconds. There are two transmission choices, the standard being a 6-speed automatic, however, upper trim levels have an optional 9-speed automatic available.  

Like any good SUV should, the 2018 Honda Pilot is equipped with driver select mode for specific terrain conditions. It’s also equipped with an AWD system that detects slippage and adjusts accordingly along with 7.3” of ground clearance.

The 2018 Honda Pilot has been named a top safety pick from IIHS, and has received 5 stars overall from NHTSA.
