Honda took the world by surprise earlier this month by unveiling the fifth generation of the popular Honda CR-V compact SUV. The new 2017 Honda CR-V gets some significant improvements both under the hood and inside the cockpit. The exterior design is also all new, and the new CR-V is packed with impressive active safety features.

Here’s what you need to know about the 2017 Honda CR-V

It will have a new engine

The new 2017 Honda CR-V will feature for the first time in the compact SUV’s history a brand new 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 190 horsepower and is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The base 2.4L four-cylinder engine is carried over from the previous Honda CR-V and delivers 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque.

It has more interior space and more connectivity features

Thanks to a new design featuring a longer wheelbase and a redesigned interior, the 2017 Honda CR-V will offer more features than ever before. It notably includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies for improved connectivity, as well as a new center console with a revised touchscreen for the infotainment system, and other convenience features such as a foot activated power tailgate.

It will be safer

The new 2017 Honda CR-V will come standard with the full suite of Honda Sensing active safety technologies. Honda Sensing is one of the most advanced safety packages on the market and features a host of technologies designed to prevent accidents. Features include lane keep assist, lane departure mitigation and warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and emergency braking.

It has a new design

The 2017 Honda CR-V will be bolder and more noticeable than ever before thanks to a new design that give it an even more distinctive look. Improved design features include redesigned headlights with distinctive winged LEDs, a new grill that includes active shutters for better aerodynamics and fuel economy, a longer hood and more.

Thanks to all its new features, the 2017 Honda CR-V will be better than ever, all the while preserving its comfort and refinement characteristics that have made it so popular over the years. No question about it, Honda improved the 2017 Honda CR-V in every way they could.
